Terms of service

1. The service

ColorCollect is a photo scavenger hunt game: each day it picks a target color, and you photograph real-world objects matching that color to fill a montage grid, either solo or together with friends in a shared "room". The site publishes the daily color, guides, and a link-in-bio hub for the app.

2. Eligibility

The app is rated for ages 12 and up. If you are under the age required by the laws of your country to agree to these terms without parental consent, you may only use the app with a parent or guardian's permission.

3. Accounts and rooms

Group mode uses an anonymous, randomly generated account id and a display name you choose — we do not require an email address, phone number, or real name. Anyone with a room's 6-character code can join that room and see its contents; you are responsible for who you share a room code with. See the Privacy policy for what data this involves.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the photos you take and upload. By submitting a photo to a Group room, you grant the other participants of that room a license to view it as part of the montage, and you grant us the license needed to store and transmit it solely to operate the service (see the Privacy policy for retention and deletion).

You agree not to upload content that is illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or is intended to harass, abuse, or harm another participant. We may remove content or suspend access to a room in response to a violation of these terms.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use the app or site to violate any applicable law; attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user's room, account, or our backend; interfere with or disrupt the service (including automated abuse of room creation, uploads, or votes); or use the service to distribute malware or spam.

6. In-app purchases

The app offers an optional one-time premium unlock and optional donations ("tip jar"). There are no subscriptions, and all core features remain free without purchasing anything. Purchases are processed entirely by Google Play Billing or the App Store; refunds are handled under their respective policies, not by us directly.

7. Intellectual property

The ColorCollect name, logo, and app/site design are owned by us. These terms do not grant you any right to use our branding except as needed to use the app or site as intended (e.g. sharing your own montages).

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The app and site are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

10. Termination

You may stop using the app or site at any time; Settings → Delete account & all data removes your local and server-side data as described in the Privacy policy. We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates these terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by German law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where applicable, mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence is unaffected.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, announced in the app's release notes.
